I found this site through google under the search term "internet addiction." In this site, one will find information that discusses if "internet addiction" is real. The topic mentions about more studies being done, and who is vulnerable. It also talks about how chat rooms and porn sites come into play. I will admit that I am a little bit of an "internet addict." I spend a lot of times watching videos, checking out new gadgets and other new things, ebay-ing, and okay I will also admit that I occasionally visit porn sites(who doesn't?). I do not find myself thinking that I am one of the few who does it because most of the people young or old spend time in the computer. Porn sites are probably the biggest reason why there are internet addicts, especially guys. The only way to stop this is if the government prohibited these porn sites and other sites in relation to it. But still, there are other ways people could get addicted to, like youtube or gaming. According to all of the tests above, I am an "internet addict." =P

-------------------------------8 Tips to cope with Internet Addiction 1. Firstly admit you have an Internet addiction. Learn to be true to yourself and admit it that you do have an internet addiction. There's no use avoiding the truth.
. 2. Find an interest or hobby. Get involved with your family or friends and do non internet related activities. Go join your schools teams, clubs, sports, music, dancing, or singing. Take up an exercise or join a gym. Learn craft making or learn to draw or paint. Keep up with the local events in your community. Look in your local papers, there are tons of activities and interests groups to take part in. 3. No Internet for Studying. Do your homework and study away from the home computer. Read books or research at the library instead of browsing the internet for information. Learn to do research without the Internet, library books have a wealth of knowledge. 4. Help with family meals. Your parents, wife or husband will be happier that you're helping out with dinner or dishes than surfing the web. This also will achieve self-accomplishment knowing that you can get off the computer for a while. Learn to cook or bake something with your family or children. 5. Meet up with friends. Plan a fun trip to the mall, cinema or ice skating rink. Avoid places that have internet access such as coffee shops, it may give you second thoughts about jumping online for a few minutes. Get a friend to walk a dog with you for the afternoon. 6. Plan family gatherings. Plan a picnic with your family or a trip to the swimming pool with your kids. Instead of watching TV or doing individual things during dinner time, eat dinner as a family on the table and pay board games after wards. 7. Limit your computer usage time. Strictly keep a timetable for your internet usage. Stick to the allocated time and do not stray from it. Switch off the computer when not in use, and you will be less likely to use it. If you have a laptop, make sure you keep it away from your sight after using so you will not be tempted to on it again. Keep your laptop in a hard to reach place like on top of your cupboard or deep inside the drawer. 8. Call people instead of IM'ing. Refrain from using the web's instant messaging. Pick up the phone and call your friends. Avoid networking sites, which are harder to resist nowaday

When we are addicted to something we tend to deny that what we have is addiction. The term we prefer to use is habit. I am not sure if I am addicted to the internet because I never had to face any problem caused by the time I spend on the internet. However, I got 6 "yes" in the test which makes me borderline addicted. I work for example in front of a computer with access to the internet and everytime I have availability I check my e-mails, network profiles, websites of interest... Also, sometimes when I am home ready to sleep I turn my computer on and check all the websites that I already checked during the day. That is definitely a symptom of addiction (sic). But I must say I never had a problem caused by the time I spend on the internet. Maybe my bosses would not be too happy knowing the time I spend on the web, but that honestly does not have a bad influence in my overall work for the day. I believe it is actually good for me to be able to vent and take my head off work for a few minutes. Maybe I am in denial... hehe. Who knows. I agree with Ramver with what he said about the podcasts. One way or another we are all addicted to the internet. I believe we should evaluate if the time we spend in front of the computer is actually affecting our "real" lives.

Yes, my young brother is so addit to the Internet, he spend a lotof time chatting and checking pages for something new, looking for information and play games online. He feel that be online or chatting is not considerate an addition because he said that to be an addict is to do nothing else except be in front of the computer.

After listening the report interview in Podcasts about addiction to the internet I realized that one way or the other we are addict to the Internet, most of the people don’t even know how danger is to spend a lot of time online, sacrificing their family and some cases losing them. Spending time more than the usual is considerate addiction, for example by checking the email frequently.
