Perhaps we all can agree that youtube is the single most visited video sharing website and that most of its content is generated by people that wanna share something with a video. We all have visited youtube looking for information on some topic, to laugh at someones video, to learn something (guitar lessons, piano lessons, language, bio of somebody famous. If you visited youtube.com today you probably noticed that most of the videos you found are generated by people like you and I. Theres also music videos, TV shows, and Channels each with different content (Content that has to be regulated because of copyright laws. Have you tube today.

HISTORY

YouTube is a video sharing website on which people can upload and share videos. Former employees of PayPal created YouTube in February of 2005. Youtube displays a wide range of use video content which include movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, and amateur content such as video blogging. Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, although media including CBS, AND the BBC offer some of their material via the site. Accounts of registered users are also called "channels".

CONTENT & LAWS

Due to the use of copyrighted material in many of the videos created by users, youtube has removed many audio or whole videos to avoid being sued by the owners of such material. We can find many music videos uploaded by Universal Music Group, Sony MS, BMG and other labels to prevent copyright infringement. Theres also big TV networks that upload content from their programing to youtube. (Add more content people !!)

YOUTUBE.COM = FREE ADVERTISING

Well not really free but cheaper than buying air time on TV or Radio and then hope that people will watch it. Sites like youtube.com, myspace.com, facebook.com are visited by people all ages; Therefore, ads in this websites will be more "viewable" than an ad on tv. Artist , speacialy new artist advertise their music on youtube without paying huge amounts of money to labels or productions of CD's that might not sell ( insert someone who gt famous out of youtube here ). The presidential election was broadcast by youtube and alot of people watch it this way. Candidates even had their channels. ( Look this up people , just fill up with some facts here please and more ways Youtube is used to advertise.

SIGNING UP : DOES AND DON'TS.
Signing up is simple, just need a valid e-mail address because you will need to activate your new account with a link sent to that e-mail. After Signing up theres alot of things you can do. DO upload videos and share them. DO Favorite other peoples' video and DO make your own channel. DO Customize your channel with the available templates and colors. DO make your own little world within the youtube community and add friends. DO try to get famous overnight, who knows?! it has happen. (NAME SOMEONE PLZS!!)

Here are some of the things you shoulnt do. Just because you are behind a screen miles away from anybody who has kindly upload a video for your entertainment: Don't insult them, Don't post racist comments, Don't say anything you would say in front of that person. DON'T ever post FIRST!!! as your comment.

RSS news RSS (most commonly translated as "Really Simple Syndication" but sometimes "Rich Site Summary") is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format.[2] An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed",[3] or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based, desktop-based, or mobile-device-based. A standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. The user subscribes to a feed by entering into the reader the feed's URI or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. Virtual Worlds: MMO, Massively Multi-player Online role playing games

A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMOG or simply MMO) is a video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played on the Internet, and feature at least one persistent world. They are, however, not necessarily games played on personal computers. Most of the newer game consoles, including the PSP, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and Wii can access the Internet and may therefore run MMO games. Additionally, mobile devices and smartphones based on such operating systems as Windows Mobile and Google's Android, as well as the Apple iPhone are seeing an increase in the amount of MMO games available. MMOGs can enable players to cooperate and compete with each other on a large scale, and sometimes to interact meaningfully with people around the world. They include a variety of gameplay types, representing many video game genres.

Many MMO's have a free limited version. Runescape allows you to play for as long as you want in a small world which takes up about the equivalent of about a square mile. There are about 16 missions. All of which can be completed with the skills available. It makes for an easy start to get into the game. It helps you to get leveled up before getting involved with the big time paying players. It can take weeks do causal play to plateau. Note: This section was written based on early experiences from about 3 to 4 years ago. Runescape seems to have improved greatly since then I will be giving it a second try soon. I have joined Runescape as a free player once again. I was surprised that the game has change very little but not disappointingly so. The games graphics are still poor but to make them better would have required a massive overhaul that would have shut the site down for weeks and probably put a few nerds in the hospital with withdraw symptoms. The game does however have an HD option which provides slightly better texture to the terrain. Even thought the game hasn't changed much I am looking forward to playing further and eventually goin back to being a member instead of a F2P (Free-to play) player.

Also some dedicated fans have started a Wiki which is helpful to new users and returning players like me. It is slow but it hasn't given me any problems on my laptop.

Disney created a MMO called Pirates of the Caribbean Online. The free gameplay available doesn't allow for the first mission you are given to be completed. Free players share the same worlds as paying players leading to many popups tellingt you you are about to enter a member only area and that you can't go any farther. It takes 3 days of casual play to reach a point where you can't do anything.

Yibster is a social networking site which caters to muscians.Writertopia is a social networking site for writers but they are selective you need an invitation code. If you need to find people in your field you can find them on a social networking site.

What is a forum?
A forum is a place where users of a site may go to ask questions about the need they acquired, whether it being a product just off the line or where to find a good veterinarian. It's a simple Q&A format, someone asks a question while others reply. A forum has multiple lengthy discussions that anyone, or anyone joined to the site can reply to. It's a median to voice new ideas or ask questions.

Who created it?
Forums were actually made in ancient Rome. They were market place meeting areas like town square and often used for judicial or personal matters. In today's day and age it's used for more personal matters. Internet wise these sites started appearing in the 1996 but there was no one person responsible for this online bulletin board.

Why should you use it?

Learning new ideas and refining old ones
Enjoying community membership
Influencing the forum's evolution
Contributing to others
Making new friends and contacts

I have an account on ebay.com, and I Love it. I have sold items on ebay and bought many items on ebay. I bought books, engines, special parts for my car and even perfumes. It is alot better than a retail store because you can see all of the different prices on one page. You can bid or buy it for the reserved price. Most of my school books were purchased through ebay and I saved alot more than buying them from the school bookstore. I trust the website very much, and the only time they will deduct money from your account is when you purchase a product. You will be surprised with the things that ebay sale on their website. Majority of the time the products are in good shape, just make sure you read the sellers reviews and pictures before actually buying the product. Well I think I pretty much covered it, just make sure you check it out.

Forums

Forums are another collaboration based sites like the wikkis. many people can post topics, videos, replies, or pictures. Unlike a wiki though not everyone can edit the forum, or the site. People in forums post a discussion starter and all the other people simply reply. There is no adding or editing the original data unless you are the one who created it in the first place. Visitors can come and go for a forum, but people are there to stay for a wiki.

"Fundamentally, forums and wikis serve different purposes. wikis are good for creating a relatively compact knowledgebase, but aren't great for building a community. forums are much better for allowing members to interact with each other, but the knowledge tends to be dispersed and somewhat lower in density. Also you can have several forums inside a wiki, but you cannot have a wiki inside a forum.

Chat

Chat is communication using an instant messenger. It is usually done in synchronous, allowing people to communicate in real time. This is somewhat useful, but only works when both people are online at the same time. Messages can be left, but it becomes more or less like email. Wikis, on the other hand, allow people to communicate in a series of editable messages that can be changed simultaneously. And unlike chat, you can erase what you write, after you write it.

Defining Blogs: basics and more...

Most blogs have 2 or 3 columns with entries. Usually the column in the middle has all the posts done in chronological order. The columns on the side will more likely have Archive of past entries and other one with ads (if ad supported ) and or more info about the author , a search bar and links related to the blog's topic.

Blogs are simple websites used to share info using words, audio, video and or pictures. Most bloggers are people sharing knowledge on the specific blog topic. A weblog will use word to do descriptions and any topic. An audioblog will use, well, audio to share information in form of podcast. Photologs use pictures with descriptions that users share with mostly friends. Vblogs or videoblogs use videos and are not really popular. Although Vblogs are not very popular people still use them for various purposes. Check out this link that can teach you how to creat a Vblog and good reasons to use it.

There's no need to know how to write in html or any other language to create your own blog. Most layouts are already created (written ) for you and is fairly simple to customize. There's tons of info on how to customize layouts on the internet. If you have an interesting topic that you would like to share, start blogging.
